Postnatal exercise for strength and DRAM recovery.

The changes to your body before, during, and after childbirth are a nuisance of new experiences to charter. After your body has endured the stressors of childbirth, it needs assistance to reform and adjust to these changes, which is super important to restore it to its happiest and healthiest state. At Melissa Kate Hypnobirthing, we talk all things postnatal fitness to ensure your postpartum recovery is strong, healthy and the best it can be.

Long-term positive effects of exercise

After birth, your body has changed in particular ways that will require you to strengthen and re-strengthen muscles that have had to be super amazing during a busy nine months! This includes strengthening your back, pelvic floor, and abdominal muscles. By helping out these muscles, you’re making it easier to return to previous mechanisms such as bending, lifting, carrying, sitting, and standing for a long period without pain.

What is DRAM?

DRAM is the common abbreviation for abdominal separation. When this isn’t rehabilitated through postnatal exercise, women can suffer from hernias, pelvic girdle pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and backaches. Restrengthening these muscles are all a part of a safe postnatal exercise and recovery program, and result in the rehabilitation of the rectus abdominis separation (DRAM) and pelvic floor rehabilitation.
